Local News STILL behind the times

News rooms all over Americans have been sweeting bullets about how online blogging are going to kill them because of their fast reporting and today I can see why. Around 4:40pm today right in front of my office was a crazy scene you would see in a action move set. Tens of cops, uncovers, motorcycle and etc on a high speed chase of who knows why. What i caught was a man trying to car jack people as he tried to ran away from the cops which I have never seen in my whole life. So after all the rumors on the street, it was a murder, bank robbery, who knows. But I thought I would wait till it hits the local news. Well I turn on the 5:30 news.. Nothing. 6:00 news? Nothing as well. Head over the sfgate and nothing really local. The only local news is about Bad Air and the tiger lawsuit. Really? Is this local to me? Your telling me a high speed chase is not local news? I am sorry, but that is pretty important to me as I live here (ok i live a few blocks away, but my building is there). I can see why sites like sfist are so popular with locals and the -ist sites are. They are what locals really care about. We all know San Francisco is a big city and maybe we do care about bigger issues but losing on reporting local news is pretty bad. I saw a camera man there, but, could not tell what channel he was from so he could have been a freelancer. But this lack of reporting of crime is a bit scary because if I was not there I would never know about it.

FOOTBALL SATURDAY REDUX!

So after a sprained ACL and some sprained egos we got week two of our preseason turkey bowl game. This is the pictures of the first game as after this most people did not want photos but videos =| Next week I hope to provide a better mix. This is a learning experience for me as well as I dont take sport pics so if you dont see yourself or they are blurry, deal with it =P

FOOTBALL SATURDAY! Islamic Center style!

While most people are watching college football on Saturdays, we are out playing it. Well ok so we are not up to the level of college football, but, its a lot more healthy and fun then staying home all day watching TV. So after getting invited by Humza and Kasim to come out and play O-Line and D-Line I thought I should bring the camera and make a blog post!

It was a great game, tho some guys were maybe getting too “passionate” (you know who you are) and a few tempers started to flare near the end of the day. We need to stop that for the next game, we are all Muslims playing so we dont need name callings or fighting. Pumped up is great, fighting is not. Also someone needs to write down the rules, because damn they kept changing the whole game. Maybe setting up a blog just for the games (I know last year their was one for the volleyball games during Ramadan) would be a good idea. Well thats me for talking, also, i need to find a new camera guy =| The Photos are ok and someone left the camera in Video mode so I have a bunch of video of the floor of people talking.

Business Cards!

Well in being late with making my own theme for finding a good one (tho my understanding of CSS and WordPress Themes has grown greatly) I have found the time to make a business card. As much as the Internet is important, I always find myself face to face with no business cards as I ran out of my old stock and lost the file =( Remember kids, backup!

Well after working hard, and stealing some designs (Thank you Guy Kawasaki: http://blog.guykawasaki.com/2008/05/the-art-of-the.html for pointing me to http://blog.jruckman.com/2008/05/09/16:02:00/ ) I was able to come up with my own version of a business card that is simple but I feel gets the point across. Its not done yet, its just a Alpha design but I think at the end of the day it will look like this.

So I am looking for some great themes for this front page… and its so confusing as they are so many options! And since I lack any graphic skills I am just trying to find what others have done. Hopefully today I will be able to patch everything up and get a new theme and then I can focus on topics.

Well it looks like it will be a long time till i get zsiddique.com with the screw ups at yahoo domain. So i have moved on to ZuhaiBlog.com , a bit cooler then zsiddique.com and i hope more popular. In time i will get zsiddique.com to point to this domain. Anyways, right now i am just doing some home cleaning with wordpress and getting it all setup.
